These days medical news abounds with reasons why, as we age, we need to keep our bodies and brains fit. Crosswords, playing card games, brain games software – there are lots of activities to choose from.  The other day we came across Dakim BrainFitness for over 60s and signed up for a free trial.  This system offers a wide variety of exercises to sharpen language, long-term memory, short-term memory, computation, and critical thinking skills.  It comes at a cost- $249 (US dollars), but we like the fact that BrainFitness has been clinically tested and is so comprehensive in nature.  We would say that some of the activities, which involve knowledge of popular culture show a slight US bias, but that is our only caveat. To find out more, visit Dakim‘s site by touching or clicking here.

In our next post, we’ll look at a low tech, low cost but very effective brain fitness activity. Stay tuned!
