Spring has definitely sprung here in New Zealand! The daffodils are in bloom and the magnolia and native kowhai trees are out. Today was a perfect day to stroll through one of the city’s outdoor markets, so we decided to head to Britomart (Auckland’s central transportation hub). And, this being the last Saturday of the month, I’d read that the Tyler St. Garage Eating House and Bar would be hosting an art and design market – bonus!
The inner city was alive with locals, cruise passengers (P&O’s Sun Princess was in port) and rugby fans in town for the Bledisloe Cup rugby game tonight between New Zealand’s All Blacks and Australia’s Wallabies. I wandered through market square, enjoying the artisan food and organic produce stalls, while Mr. Boomerlifetoday and Bailey (our Wheaton) sat in the sunshine. I couldn’t resist Phillipe’s beautiful French pastries (love those pain au chocolat) and some bagels from a nearby vendor.
The Ministry of Art & Design market at Tyler St. Garage was small, but perfectly formed. The quality of the art and craft on show was very high with some really unique pieces. Nice to see! And, the eating house & bar looked worth coming back to for drinks and a casual bite to eat.
All in all a very pleasant morning! What a great way to start the weekend…..what are you doing this weekend?
Until next time,
